Yanni Voices

I recently had the opportunity to preview the new CD and DVD of Yanni Voices thanks to the One 2 One Network. Yanni Voices features Yanni's instrumental works backed by four young talented vocalists. The music is very inspiring and relaxing. You can listen to a song from each of the vocalists here. My favorite song is 'Before the Night Ends' sung by Leslie Mills.

They are going to be on tour all over U.S. beginning in April. You can check out the schedule here. They are coming to Omaha at the end of May and I'm trying to talk my husband into getting us tickets for a date night at the concert. If you can't make it to the concert, you can watch the PBS special about Yanni Voices.

Valentine's Day deals - $5 Free at Old Navy, Free Coffee coupon

This offer is no longer available.I was out shopping today at Shadow Lakes shopping center and came across two excellent freebies!

Old Navy had a sheet of four, color-your-own Valentine's Day cards and one of the cards was a coupon for $5 off any purchase redeemable only on Valentine's Day 2/14/09. I found a stack of these cards on a table near the store entrance with some crayons for kids. They had tons of clearance under $5 and lots of shirts for only $6. So, you could get an article of clothing for free or for only a $1 on Valentine's Day. I'm getting my daughter one of the $6 shirts that says "Just give me snacks and noone gets hurt!"

Next, I stopped at Border's and they had free Valentine's Day card/coupons at the front register and at the Seattle's Best counter. Each one had 2 coupons good for a FREE 12 oz beverages of your choice. These coupons are good until 3/15/09. Another great deal!

I found these coupons at my local stores here in the Omaha area. Though they are both national promotions, it's always a good idea to call your store to make sure they have the coupons available before making a special trip.

Free Audio and eBooks

Do you like Audio books? LibriVox has over 1,900 audio book titles you can download onto your mp3 or computer for free.

Do you prefer reading e books? The Gutenberg project has uploaded over 27,000 books and you can download them free. You can even download the book to your Palm or Smartphone, if you have one. My favorite thing about this site is they have ebooks in various languages. I speak Russian, so I was excited to see several Russian books available.

How is this legal to get all these books for free? Most of these are older books that are no longer covered undered copyright laws or are books that have never been copyrighted, so they are free to be distributed for personal use only. Very cool!

Are you an avid reader? Would you enjoy previewing books for free before they are released and writing a review?
Harper Collins First Look program offers you a chance to read and review new books. All you need to do is join for free, select the categories of books you read and sign up for specific books you want to review. The company selects reviewers at random and sends them a free copy of the book.
This month they have 12 books available to preview, in many different genres. You select the books you want to read and request them. Harper Collins will let you know on the date specified if you were one of the people selected to review the book.
I have been participating in First Look for several months and love getting new books to read and voicing my opinion about them. It's a great program for any book lover and a great way to get some new books on a budget.

How I saved money on prescriptions

Recently, I went to the doctor and knew I would probably need medication, but was afraid of the high cost of the medicine she might prescribe me. I decided to go to the doctor with options for low cost medication and printed the $4 generic medication lists for both Walgreens and HyVee. There are other stores that also have the $4 generic program, so check your local grocery and drugstores for their lists.

When I arrived, the doctor had a two week sample of an expensive brand name drug for me and was going to write me a prescription for it. I showed her the list of generics I had printed and she found a medicine that was the same as the brand name drug and a whole lot cheaper. Even though the two week free sample seems like a great thing, the cost of the medicine was more than triple the generics I was actually prescribed. By doing a little bit of research before the appointment and arriving prepared, I saved hundreds of dollars on prescription costs in the long run.
