Omaha: Double Coupon at Hy-Vee through Tuesday!

The True Story of Puss in Boots

The True Story of Puss'N Boots from Phase 4 Films released October 4, 2011.

I should have previewed this movie before letting my three and five year old watch it. They seemed to enjoy it, but I found the content too heavy and inappropriate for them. Puss'N Boots is played by William Shatner, a very annoying cat voice. I like his regular voice and was seriously disappointed with his character voice.

The princess character had over-exaggerated curves and features and was overly sexual. Her parents, the king and queen were obviously alcoholics. The queen slurred all her words and the king could hardly keep his eyes open. The court jester scared my three year old. He had a freaky clown looking face and was up to no good.

I did enjoy the music. The princess' voice was very beautiful and the music catchy. That was the only redeeming feature of this movie. Supposedly, it also follows the original story of Puss'N Boots.

I would not recommend this movie for your family. It retails for $19.99 for the DVD and $24.99 for the Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack. Save your money and rent it if you really want to check it out for yourself.

Ocean Pals Moon Dough - A Review

I was super excited when an Ocean Pals Moon Dough  set arrived on my doorstep from Child's Play for a review. My three year old son loves Play-doh and I was really excited for him to try Moon Dough. The set included really neat fish building toys that worked just like a stamp. Just lay down the Moon Dough and push the top of the molder and viola - a cool new creature.

He had tons of fun playing and molding the Moon Dough, unfortunately, it crumbled really easily and was a huge pain to clean. After about 15 minutes of playing, he started to get frustrated because he couldn't roll the Moon Dough into balls or flatten it to use the molds. I was frustrated because I found tiny pieces of crumbled Moon Dough all over my kitchen table, chairs and floor that took way too long to clean.

The Moon Dough Mess - the rest is on the floor 

Apparently, the Moon Dough never dries out, but I won't find out because I threw it away already. My son loves to create and mold things, but we are sticking to Play-doh. It may dry out eventually, but it's much easier for him to handle and much less mess for mom. I think the Moon Dough may be more appropriate for an older child with better fine motor skills, but it does not work well for my three year old.
